My brief foray into the world of sampling. I got out one of my mother-in-law’s old 7” vinyls from the 60’s, which had a bewildering chorus of “Come, pussy, pussy, pussy, pussy” (it’s about a cat — seriously), and decided to set it to a hip-hop beat.
Now, granted, this isn’t really a very good hip-hop beat. I was somewhat stuck on the notion that it should still be loud and noisy, industrial-ish, but that just resulted in massively distorted drums. I was leaning towards Year Zero, but ended up somewhere in “amateur Reason-tool” land.
Still, the absolutely baffling sample sells it. Even if I couldn’t get it out in stereo.
